Welcome to the Athens High School Orchestras Website

The Athens Orchestra Parent Association (AOPA) welcomes our new and returning musicians to another year of beautiful music. AOPA is a parent and community-supported non-profit organization, whose purpose is to help support the orchestra program at Athens High School.

AOPA is a tax-exempt, nonprofit, 501 (c)(3) organization. Contributions are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.

AOPA Scholarships - 2012

AOPA Scholarship information and applications are available. To be eligible for a scholarship the family of the student must be a member of AOPA by March 1, 2012. Scholarship applications are due by March 5, 2012. Scholarship information and applications will also be available in the Athens HS Guidance Office.

PARENTS -- We Need You

Several AOPA Board and Committee Chair persons have graduating seniors this year and we will need to fill board and committee positions for next year. If you are thinking of volunteering next year and would like more information, please contact Jeff Bassett at jjb0625@wowway.com. Please consider volunteering. Thank you.

For AOPA to continue to earn rewards for May 1st 2011 to April 30th 2012, all members, and those who have registered their Kroger Plus card with AOPA in this program, MUST re-enroll at krogercommunityrewards.com beginning April 1st 2011. You will not receive any communication from Kroger relative to enrollment expiring. If you are not enrolled, please enroll/re-enroll your card and help support the Athens Orchestras. If you no longer have a student/s in the orchestra program, you can still help the Athens Orchestras by re-registering your Kroger Plus card. For Re-enroll or Enroll instructions, please click here

The Andy Stindt Scholarship Fund

The fund was created in 1997 after the tragic death of Andy and two of his friends, Michael Jamieson and Ashley Easterbrook.  All three were killed by a drunk driver.  The scholarship fund provides financial support to deserving young musicians in the Troy School District for summer music camp, private lessons and/or college.

Through the generous support of the community, we have been able to award  $96, 347 to 178 students.  The fund has also purchased sheet music, provided DSO master classes and brought visiting clinicians to the Athens Orchestras.
